"Blue or Real Life" is the story of a time that has no secrets and in which "nothing happens".
Uprooted like Pound, whose work he has often dealt with, and with a similarly troubled relationship to Western civilization, Jochen Gerz produces “cultural stories” that are rich in allusions – not only to art but also to economic and political issues. At the same time, he seems able to use the very means of communication to create puzzles and misunderstandings. In “Blue or Real Life” there glimmers not least a subliminal challenge for us to find the courage to “understand” something we do not understand.
