Der Kwakiutl König # 2

CR 287. Year 1983

Der Kwakiutl König Jochen Gerz Cr 287 Web

Having been a chief and a warrior for many a year, the Kwakiutl King one day decided to stop time. I stop the eagle in the middle of its flight, the rushing salmon in the creek, I stop the clams, ...

He writes the texts of these works very carefully, finishing them after completing the long journey on which he takes the photographs, and leaving the film undeveloped in his luggage, so that his mental image will not be compromised and the words will not slip away. Both components must be balanced with great care. Should one dominate the other something is wrong with the piece.
